A fire broke out Saturday in Butte County, north of Chico off of Hwy 99 and Meridian Road. Firefighters contained the fire at a little over a square mile. Its cause is under investigation.
Butte & Valley Fires
· The Butte Fire, in Amador and Calaveras Counties, was declared 100 percent contained on Thursday at 111 square miles.
· The 119-square-mile Valley Fire in Lake, Napa and Sonoma Counties is 98 percent contained. The cause of both of the Butte and Valley Fires remains under investigation.
