Today our featured act is local math-rock band, Team Skins. Comprised of guitarist Matt Houghton, bass guitarist Rob Knopp and drummer Michael Nalin, Team Skins has been a fixture of the music scene here in Chico since their formation in 2015. Last year the trio was recognized by the Chico News & Review as “Best New Band” and Houghton was also given the award for “Best Local Guitarist.” For the last two years Team Skins has strived to create complex instrumental arrangements that combine spontaneous rhythmic shifts with Houghton’s signature finger-tapping guitar style.

Team Skins will be calling it quits as a band in order to pursue other projects beginning next year, but there will be one final chance to catch them live in Chico this January.
