Republican Lawmakers Introduce '#GrowTogetherCA' Legislative Package

Republican members of the California Assembly introduced a package of legislation today that they say is focused on paving a path to prosperity for all Californians. “#GrowTogetherCA” addresses what they are calling three of the state’s most pressing needs, including water, housing and transportation.

Under one proposal, Assemblyman James Gallagher of Nicolaus says that government must remove road blocks to large water projects such as the Sites reservoir.

“When the voters passed the water bond, they expected their representatives to implement a speedy solution to the drought,” Gallagher said. “And they expect these storage projects to get off the ground as soon as possible. AB 311 gives Sites Reservoir and other large water storage projects the same environmental streamlining that was given to the Kings for their new arena here in downtown Sacramento.”

Other proposals in this vast package would prohibit BART workers from striking – an effort to stop gridlock stemming from their 2013 labor strife.  Another bill would allow private commuter shuttles to use public bus stops.  Others would force the formation of a state task force to deal with drones and address labor laws to make it easier for workers to use flex time.
