Redding Motel Served With Inspection Warrant

A lodging establishment that generated nearly 1,000 calls for service from the Redding Police Department over a recent three-year period has been served with an inspection warrant. According to a police department press release, the Americana Lodge on Pine Street was served at about 8 a.m. Wednesday. The inspection team is comprised of inspectors from the City of Redding Code Enforcement, Building Division, Fire Department, Electric Utility, and Shasta County Environmental Health.

According to police, the American Lodge has a long history of health and safety violations that continue to occur even after previous city actions. The American Lodge has long-term residents as well as overnight guests. The warrant was issued by the Shasta County Superior Court gives inspectors the authority to inspect each of the 54 rooms and other buildings. The inspection is expected to occur Wednesday and Thursday.
