The incident made headlines nationally after authorities initially opted not to prosecute.

Redding City Council discusses groundwater sustainability plan: The city is working with five other entities on creating a regional Groundwater Sustainability Agency. NSPR’s Kelly Frost was at the meeting and reported that Public Works Director, Brian Crane, gave an update on the local plan thus far, where it looks like many questions remain. Jurisdictions around the state must form an agency by June that will develop regulations to balance groundwater pumping with replenishment. If no plan is written, the job goes to state officials in Sacramento. According to the Redding Record Searchlight, a public presentation about the Redding-area groundwater plan is set for early December.

According to Capital Public Radio, a new radio ad paid for by an Orange County super-PAC is urging republicans to vote for Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. According to the story, while it may not change much in the Senate race, the ad could boost turnout, which could affect down-ballot candidates.
