Here’s an update on some of the active fires burning in California. See our fire page for more.
Bigger fires:
· The Lake Fire, east of San Bernardino, is 19 percent contained and 29, 800 acres. More than 7,000 structures are threatened but none have been destroyed. For more information on mandatory and voluntary evacuations, read this 8 a.m. update.
· The Washington Fire, south of Lake Tahoe and near the town of Markleeville, has burned 16,490 acres and is 15 percent contained. Highways 4 and 89 in the Monitor and Ebbetts Pass areas will remain closed throughout the weekend. For more information on area closures, visit InciWeb.
In the North State:
· The Saddle Fire is all but contained, with InciWeb reporting 95 percent containment.
· Firefighters continue to patrol the site of the 2014 Happy Camp Complex Fire, where some small hot spots have rekindled. It is extremely unlikely, according toInciWeb, that fire will leave the old footprint.
Almost contained:
· The 415-acre Calgrove Fire, in Santa Clarita, was 95 percent contained as of Thursday.
