Wednesday Butte County aircraft and ground fire crews worked most of the afternoon and some of the evening, to contain a vegetation fire near Webb Creek Road in Bangor. The Webb Fire was first reported around 1 p.m. It was contained at 75 acres. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
Other North State fires:
A 110-acre grass fire is burning about 10 miles southeast of the community of Ravendale in Lassen County. The Shinn Fire is located at Shinn Peak and was sparked during a thunderstorm Tuesday night. At last report it was 60% contained. Fire crews are also working on two smaller lightning sparked fires in the area. They are about an acre and a tenth of an acre in size.
More California fires:
Fire crews are continuing to make progress on three other California fires.
· The 31,000-acre Lake Fire, east of San Bernardino is now 70% contained – up from 65% Wednesday. It’s been burning since June 17.
· The 18,000-acre Washington Fire, south of Lake Tahoe is now 77% contained – up from 66% Wednesday. Estimated containment date is July 31.
· The 320-acre Mesa Fire in Santa Barbara County is currently 95% contained. The fire started Monday afternoon near the city of Lompoc.
Recently contained fires:
· Beckwourth Lightning Complex (Plumas County) – 100% contained at 10 acres.
· Webb Fire (Butte County) – 100% contained at 75 acres.
· LaPorte Fire (Butte County) – 100% contained at ½ acre.
