Man, 35, Faces Felony Charges After Shooting, Chase In Red Bluff

A man who allegedly opened fire on a home west of Red Bluff, before leading authorities on a chase through four counties Tuesday, was identified Wednesday as 35-year-old Ian Michael Gonzales.

Gonzales was being treated in a Nevada County hospital for injuries sustained in a crash that ended the pursuit. The tires of Gonzales’ green Ford pickup were flattened by spike strips, causing a rollover.

According to Tehama County authorities, Gonzales sought to confront a 35-year romantic partner and attempted to kidnap her at gunpoint. Another person at the home produced a firearm, and Gonzales departed — only to retrieve a "high capacity rifle" from his truck. The home was struck by multiple rounds, but none of the four people inside were injured. Prosecutors expect to file multiple felony charges including attempted murder.
