Former Paradise Police Officer Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

Following a fatal officer-involved shooting, a former Paradise police officer has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Patrick Feaster, who was with the Paradise Police Department until earlier this week, was initially cleared of criminal negligence in the November shooting of 26-year-old Andrew Thomas. When Thomas died a month later from his wounds, prosecutors decided to bring charges.  Officer Feaster suspected Thomas of driving under the influence. After a brief chase, Thomas crashed his SUV, ejecting and killing his passenger, 23-year-old Darien Ehorn.

It’s unclear whether Feaster resigned or was fired.

A widely circulated dashcam video shows Feaster’s Glock .45 going off as the officer was approaching the vehicle. It takes 11 minutes for Feaster to tell other emergency personnel that his gun may have gone off.
