Former Oroville Teacher's Aide Convicted Of Molestation

A former teacher’s aide has been found guilty of molesting a young girl repeatedly over a two-year period. Fifty-five-year-old Youlee Lee Vang of Oroville was convicted Tuesday in Butte County Superior Court of nine counts of molestation.

According to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office, the abuses took place at the Poplar Avenue School where Vang was employed from 2000 to 2010. His primary work was working with Hmong students for whom English is a second language. The abuse was first reported in 2011.  After an extensive investigation, three additional victims came forward.  Vang was arrested in Alaska after a Butte County Sheriff’s detective flew there to interview him. He was brought back to California to stand trial. He faces 24 years in state prison when he is sentenced on August 13. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
