Fires: October 7

The Valley Fire that’s been burning for nearly a month in Lake, Sonoma and Napa counties is now considered fully contained. However, fire fighters still have a lot of work to do. They’re expected to continue mopping up the fire for several weeks. The Valley Fire has been deemed one of the most destructive fires in recorded California history. It charred almost 120 square miles, killing four people and destroying 2,000 structures.

Also, now fully contained is the Butte Fire in Calaveras and Amador Counties. It was fully contained last week at 111 square miles.
