Governor Brown today declared a state of fire emergency.
In Trinity County, a fire five miles north of Hayfork has quickly grown to 120 acres and has prompted evacuations for Barker Creek Road. A shelter is set up at the Solid Rock Christian Church in Hayfork.
In Shasta County, evacuation orders have been lifted for the China Fire near Happy Valley. It totals 212 acres at 80 percent containment.
Two fires very close together a few miles southeast of Redding near Millville have burned 165 acres total. Both fires are nearing full containment.
In southeastern Butte County, the Swedes Fire off Swedes Flat Road has been fully contained.
A fire in Lake County, the biggest currently burning in the North State, has grown to 18,000 acres, (more than 28 square miles). It’s expanding currently to the southwest. Authorities have issued an evacuation advisory for areas east of Highway 53 south of Lower Lake North to Highway 20. Several building have been destroyed and damaged. An evacuation center has been set up at Middletown High School — the one in Clear Lake has been close. An animal evacuation center is open at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway. Current containment of this fire is at 5 percent.
The Lowell Fire in Nevada and Placer counties is sized at close to four square miles. It’s 75 percent contained. Evacuation orders have been switched to advisories, though some forest and road closures remain in effect in the area.
The Wragg Fire in Napa and Solano counties near Lake Berryessa has now burned 7,500 acres. Evacuations are in place for approximately 136 homes. The Wragg Fire is currently 80 percent contained.
In Humboldt County the Queen Fire is 85 percent contained. It’s burned 158 acres, five miles southeast of Pecwan. Also in Humboldt County, the Buck Fire is 85 percent contained at 16 acres.
