· Two fires very close together a few miles southeast of Redding have burned 135 acres total. One is 90 percent contained, the other 50 percent.
Also in Shasta County, two fires totaling 150 acres that broke out last night in China Gulch near Happy Valley have prompted evacuations. Residents are being asked to evacuate Fuzzy Lane, all roads between Treat Avenue and Flower Lane, and all roads West of Happy Valley Road. Road closures exist at Happy Valley Road and Canyon Road, Canyon Road at Highway 273 and Olinda Road at Happy Valley Road. A shelter has been opened at Anderson High School. The fires are 60 percent contained.
· In Butte County, the Swedes Fire off Swedes Flat Road three miles north of Bangor is now 500 acres in size and 45 percent contained. It was first reported Wednesday afternoon. Evacuations are in place for Stony Oaks Loop, Gold Mountain Road, Stoney Oaks Boulevard, Obert Drive and Gaston Booth Drive. An evacuation center is set up in Oroville at the Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Avenue. Large animals can be taken to Camelot Equestrian Center, 1985 Clark Road.
Elsewhere in California:
· A fire in Lake County has grown to 8,500 acres. The Rocky Fire was first reported Wednesday afternoon and has now destroyed several outbuildings east of Lower Lake. Evacuations and road closures are in place. An evacuation center has been set up in Clearlake at Highland Senior Center, 3245 Bowers Road. An animal evacuation center is open at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway. Current containment of this fire is at 5 percent.
· The Wragg Fire in Napa and Solano counties near Lake Berryessa has now burned 7,500 acres. Evacuations are in place for approximately 136 homes. The Wragg Fire is currently 80 percent contained.
· The Lowell Fire in Nevada and Placer counties is sized at close to four square miles. It’s 60 percent contained. Evacuation orders have been switched to advisories, though some forest and road closures remain in effect in the area.
· In Humboldt County the Queen Fire is 75 percent contained. It’s burned 158 acres, five miles southeast of Pecwan. Also in Humboldt County, the Buck Fire is 85 percent contained at 16 acres.
