Fires: July 29

A fire off Swedes Flat Road in Southeastern Butte County three miles north of Bangor has quickly swelled up to 200 acres. It’s 10 percent contained. Evacuations are in place for Stony Oaks Loop, Gold Mountain Road, Stoney Oaks Boulevard, Obert Drive and Gaston Booth Drive. An evacuation center is set up in Oroville at the Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Avenue. Large animals can be taken to Camelot Equestrian Center, 1985 Clark Road.

Elsewhere in California:

·        The Lowell Fire in Nevada County is sized at more than 2300 acres and 45 percent contained. Evacuation orders have been downgraded to advisories. There will be an informational community meeting tonight at 6:00 o’clock in Nevada City at the Nevada County Government Center. 

·        The Wragg Fire in Napa and Solano counties near Lake Berryessa has now burned 7,100 acres. It’s threatening 136 structures and is 80 percent contained.

·      Last night a fire started in Humboldt County. At last report the Buck Fire was resized to be 16 acres – down from 35 acres. It’s located near Garberville off Alderpoint and Wallan Roads. Also in Humboldt County is the Queen Fire. It’s been downsized to be 158 acres and is 42 percent contained.

Recently contained North State fires:

·        Vegetation fire on the Skyway (Butte County) – This fire was contained Tuesday after burning 15 acres near Tuscan Ridge Golf Club between Chico and Paradise.

·        Vegetation fire off Highway 44 (Shasta County) – This fire was contained Wednesday after burning about a quarter-acre off Grace Resort Road in Shingletown.
