Fires: August 1

Rampant wildfires and continuing drought conditions led Governor Brown to declare a state of fire emergency Friday. 

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a Mandatory Evacuation for the following areas:

Hyampom: The end of Kerlin Creek Road, 3N44 & 3N50, Road 16, Road 47, and Road 60.
Hayfork: The end of Barker Creek Road, the Mill Gulch area, mile marker 3.18 Highway 3 all the way to the Hayfork dump, Morgan Hill Road, Kingsbury Road, Pine Street, and Dirt Street.
Mad River: Mad River Road from Highway 36 to Three Forks.
Voluntary evacuations are still in place for the Denny area.

Southbound Highway 3 is closed from Hyampom Road to Highway 36.
The Red Cross has set up an evacuation center in Hayfork at the Solid Rock Christian Church, and in Mad River at the Van Duzen Elementary School.

All evacuations have been lifted for fires burning in Shasta and Butte counties.

The Frog Fire in Modoc County has continued to spread to 480 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter died yesterday fighting the blaze.

fire in Lake County has grown to 22,500 acres. Authorities have issued widespread evacuations, and a shelter has been set up at Middletown High School. An animal evacuation center is open at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot. Current containment of this fire is at 5 percent. 

The Lowell Fire in Nevada and Placer counties is sized at more than 2300 acres. It’s 75 percent contained. Some forest and road closures remain in effect in the area.
