Evening Fire Update: June 30

A fire destroyed a home outside of Redding Monday night. According to the Redding-Record Searchlight the home, on Plateau Circle, off Placer Road was reported around 5:30 pm, and caused about $350,000 in damages. Firefighters reportedly called in bulldozers and aircraft because the fire threatened nearby vegetation. The cause of the house fire is currently unknown and under investigation.

Other North State fires: 

·        In Plumas County fire fighters continue to mop up 25 small lightning started fires in the Plumas National Forest. The fires were sparked during a series of thunderstorms Saturday and are collectively being called the Beckwourth Lightning Complex. All were contained at fewer than 2 acres.

More California fires:

·        The Lake Fire, east of San Bernardino is still 60% contained. It’s now burned more than 31,000 acres. All evacuations have been lifted, but many area campgrounds remain closed.

·        The Washington Fire, south of Lake Tahoe is now 56% contained –up from 45% Monday. It’s currently burned 18,000 acres. State Highway 4 from Markleeville to Ebbetts pass has been reopened to through traffic, but other road closures still remain.

·        The 320-acre Mesa Fire in Santa Barbara County is currently 75% contained. The fire started Monday afternoon near the city of Lompoc. All mandatory evacuations have been lifted.

Recently contained fires:

This weekend fire crews contained several fires throughout California. That included the:   

·        Sky Fire (Madera County) – 100% contained at 500 acres.

·        Pleasure Fire (Napa County) – 100% contained at 19 acres.

·        Covelo Fire (Mendocino County) – 100% contained at 35 acres.
