It's still fire season.
A small fire caused some tense moments for about a half dozen homeowners east of Redding along Old Alturas Road between Old Oregon Trail and Boyle Road Sunday afternoon. North State Public Radio’s Kelly Frost has more.

Cal Fire and City of Redding Crews kept the fire contained to about three acres of grass, oak woodland, and one small outbuilding. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Ken Lowe says that with red flag conditions crews were very fortunate.
Ken Lowe: “We were fortunate to catch it at the end of the road at just three acres. No other homes or outbuildings are threatened. We staffed up for this in anticipation that a high fire danger day, so we had adequate resources.”
A fast response, diverting a near disaster.
