You know that thing PG&E always warns about? Mylar balloons? Well, a 75-acre Butte County fire that burned Wednesday was caused by one of those balloons striking a power line. The Webb Fire, which burned near Bangor, started after the balloon hit the power line, sending burning debris to the dry grass below.
Firefighters found success against the Beckwourth Lightning Complex in the Plumas National Forest. Each of thirty small lightning-sparked fires have been contained. It appears none grew larger than two acres.
The lightning-sparked Shinn Fire burning in eastern Lassen County is fully contained at 111 acres.
