The Downbeat

This week's Downbeat was a lot of fun. I played some new artists (new to me, anyway) like Hot Chip and Tahiti 180. I also found some clean hip hop (or whatever you choose to call it), featuring K-Naan, Kid Cudi and Jurassic 5. Animal Collective, Beck and Peter Bjorn And John were thrown into the mix this week, and of course I threw in a Motown set. We also heard from the Alabama Shakes and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats. I had a lot of fun with this show and I hope you do, too. Enjoy!

This week's Downbeat was a little different. We heard a lot of (I hate using genres) synth-rock, dance-y stuff. I started off the show with some blues-y tunes the likes of Spoon, JJ Grey and Mofro, The Black Keys, Son Little and Caribou. Things were switched up when we got into bands like Tame Impala, Arcade Fire and Neon Indian. New Young Pony Club was also featured along with Passion Pit, Crystal Castles and The Juan Maclean. Ending the show were Beach House, Portishead and of course, Radiohead. All in all a little fun and a lot different. Enjoy!

Tonight's program was upbeat and alive. Not that the show is usually drab and boring. I think you know what I mean. We heard from the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Discovery, Neon Indian, Arcade Fire, Grand National, Broken Social Scene and one of my favorites, Beck. I threw in some Motown this week, including Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell, Aaron Neville, The Main Ingredient and Aretha Franklin. I was in the mood for Pink Floyd so we heard a couple tracks from the album "Meddle". I also spinned The Velvet Underground and Tommy James and the Shondells. All in all a fun show full of variety and frogs in my throat. Thanks for tuning in!

This was a fun show. Kicked it off with the Alabama Shakes and the Shins, shook it up with the Kinks and The Velvet Underground, a little Stevie Wonder was on tap and wrapped up the show with slow tune from Beck. I really enjoyed putting this one together and I hope you enjoy it, too.
